Cracking Down on Deceptive Account Abuse
MXroute has seen a dramatic increase in new customers over a short period of time. Growth brings opportunity, but it also brings visibility. As a result, patterns that were once rare or isolated are now easier to detect at scale.
One of those patterns is deceptive use against third party services.
This includes creating multiple email accounts for the purpose of pretending to be multiple independent users of another service. The intent is usually to bypass limits, evade enforcement, manipulate systems, or misrepresent activity in ways that violate the terms of those platforms.
This has always been against MXroute policy.
What has changed is not the rule, but the level of scrutiny. With more activity on the network, these behaviors stand out more clearly, and we are actively looking for them.
MXroute is intentionally a smaller mail provider. That helps us keep pricing fair and avoid the compromises common in large corporate platforms. It also means that correlation matters. If abuse against a third party disproportionately traces back to a small provider, that third party has a strong incentive to block the provider entirely. From their perspective, doing so can significantly reduce abuse with minimal downside.
When that happens, legitimate customers pay the price. Email addresses get blocked, flagged, or quietly deprioritized simply because of where they are hosted. That erodes trust in the service and reduces its usefulness for everyone.
That is not something we are willing to allow.
For that reason, deceptive use against third party services may be met with immediate account termination, a warning if you are lucky. The risk to the broader customer base is too high.
If your business model relies on appearing as multiple independent users on other people's platforms, MXroute is not a suitable platform.
Our focus remains unchanged. We exist to provide reliable, low cost email hosting for people who use email honestly and responsibly. As the platform grows, enforcement will scale with it.
That is how we protect the service for everyone.
